Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 07/08/2025 at 10:30 am , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gabriela Hernandez arrived at the Family Child Care Home for a case management - plan of correction inspection for deficiencies issued during the annual inspection regarding the pool. LPA met with the Licensee Karla Hernandez and explained the reason for today\342\200\231s visit. During todays visit, LPA observed the following: There is an in ground pool and spa in the off-limit area of the backyard. The pool is fenced by wrought iron; the back side of the pool has a wall consisting of concrete block that meets the backdoor neighbors yard. The wrought iron fence is five foot in height, and the bars in between are no greater than four inches apart. The gate/door swings away from the pool and it's self latching/closing. During annual visit, LPA observed a section of the fencing where there is a clearance greater than five inches, between the ground and the bottom of the fence. During today's inspection, LPA confirmed Licensee raised the concrete to ensure the clearance was less than two inches. However, on today's visit, LPA Hernandez measured other sections of the fencing and noticed the clearance from the ground to bottom of the enclosure was approximately 3 \342\200\223 4 inches. LPA informed Licensee these sections needs to be 2 inches or under as well. Licensee will correct and notify Licensing once it has been completed so LPA can conduct another visit to complete inspection. LPA did not observe items or objects near fencing that would reduce the fence\342\200\231s height to less than 5 feet or make fence climbable by a child under six years old. Additionally, LPA confirmed the presence of required safety equipment: a life ring with a minimum exterior diameter of 17 inches, labeled as U.S. Coast Guard approved, and a fixed 12-foot rescue pole with a body hook. Both were visible and readily accessible from the pool area. The licensee maintains a daily pool inspection log to ensure all safety measures are in place prior to opening the facility. An exit interview was conducted and copy of this report along with appeal rights were provided to Licensee Karla Hernandez. A notice of site was provided and shall remain posted for 30 days.
