Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

The staff who oversees preparing the meals stated that meals are ready and available even if the child arrives at the facility late. Facility provided documentation of the times that meals were served for children. As per Licensee, parents are notified at what time meals and snacks are served via the app. The second allegation is Licensee does not provide adequate supervision resulting in children sustaining unexplained injuries while in care. Interviews and documentation revealed that the facility has reported to the parent the three injuries that had occurred while the child was playing at the facility. Pictures of the injury along with the explanation was provided to the parent. Licensee and staff have stated that once the school age children arrive at the facility, they ensure all the children stay in the family room area or the childcare room together for better supervision. Interviews with all pertaining parties revealed that the children are never left alone at any point of time. The third allegation Licensee yells at day care children. Interviews and observation have revealed that the Licensee and staff speak in a soft tone to adults as well as the children in care. There were 3 children present during the visit conducted on 12/17/2024 and 03/06/25 all three were under the age of two. As per Licensee and staff that their style of disciplining is to redirect the children when there is an issue, and they do not yell at them. The fourth allegation Assistant handles children in a rough manner and pinches children in care. Interviews and observation revealed that the children are well acquainted to Licensee and staff. As per Licensee and staff children are picked up when upset by placing their hand under the child\342\200\231s armpit and gently raising them. Licensee and staff denied ever pinching a child. Interviews were unable to reveal specific incidences alleging to pinching C2. See LIC 9099C for continuation. The fifth allegation Licensee does not ensure facility is kept in sanitary conditions for children in care. As per Licensee and staff the facility is cleaned and mopped daily. As per Licensee cleaning is completed after every meal and during the day as required. Upon entering the facility LPAs did not sense any unpleasant odors and facility floors were not noted to be untidy. Interviews with pertaining parties revealed that it was observed that Licensee cleans up the facility during closing hours. From the information received by interviews with Licensee and other pertaining individuals the above allegations cannot be verified. Although the allegations may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the allegations did or did not occur, therefore, the allegations are UNSUBSTANTIATED. An exit interview was conducted with Licensee Latasha Gooch, a Notice of Site Visit posted, and a copy of this report was provided to the facility on this date and time.
