Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On March 19, 2024 at 9:25 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jessica Rubio arrived unannounced to Hodge-Budd Family Child Care Home (FCCH) and met with Licensees Kenya Hodge and Hillary Budd. The purpose of the visit was to follow up on an unusual incident dated 2/23/2024 reported by licensee regarding C1 falling and later found to have a fractured arm. LPA conducted a census of the FCCH and interviewed licensee Kenya Hodge and C1. Interviews revealed that Licensee Kenya Hodge and an assistant (S1) were present with seven or eight children the day of the incident. The interviews with licensee and C1 revealed Licensee Kenya Hodge was present and in close proximity to C1, but was turned away from C1 when the actual fall occurred. The interview with C1 revealed C1 slipped and fell. Licensee stated that they checked C1's arm immediately after the incident and although did not observe any visible injury, applied an ice pack. C1 continued to complain of pain therefore, Licensee contacted C1's parent, who then took C1 for medical attention where C1's arm was found to have a hairline fracture. LPA also observed the area where the fall occurred and did not observe an safety hazards. The department determined the Licensee acted appropriately and there were no violations of regulations. There are no deficiencies being cited at this time. An exit interview was conducted, this report and appeal rights were discussed and provided to Licensee Kenya Hodge. A notice of site visit was also given and must remain posted for 30 days .
