Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On September 2, 2025, at 09:42 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Courtnee Peebles arrived at Ainalem Family Child Care (FCCH) to conduct a case management (CM) inspection with licensee initiation. LPA met with licensee (LIC) Danait Ainalem, explained the reason for the CM inspection and was granted entry to the home. Upon arrival two (2) day care children were present and the licensee. One (1) child was observed to be napping while the other child was playing . The purpose of the CM inspection is due to Licensee Danait Ainalem applying for an increase in capacity from a small to a large family child care home. A fire clearance was granted for an increase of capacity from eight (8) to fourteen (14) on August 12, 2025. During the visit, staff and child files were audited and found to be in compliance. The last fire drill was conducted on August 8, 2025. Licensee was reminded to conduct fire and earthquake drills on separate days. Additionally, all CPR and First Aid certificates must be through American Heart Association, American Red Cross or an EMSA certified vendor. Current CPR and Mandated Reporter were on file for Licensee and found to be valid. No deficiencies were cited during this visit. The application for a Large Family Child Care Home will be submitted for approval on 09/02/2025. A maximum capacity of 14 will be approved, requiring parent notification. Licensee Danait Ainalem stated they understand the following regulations and requirements: acknowledged that when more than eight (8) children present, an assistant is required. If an assistant is unavailable, the licensee must adhere to the small family childcare home ratio of no more than eight (8) children. The licensee also confirmed their understanding that all adults aged 18 and older who assist, live, or volunteer in the home must undergo a fingerprint clearance before being present in the child care setting. Additionally, the licensee acknowledged the requirement to be present for at least 80% of the time when children are in care. LPA provided an exit interview to licensee Danait Ainalem and a copy of this report. Appeal rights and a Notice of Site visit (NOS) were additionally provided, and licensee was reminded that the NOS must remain posted for 30 consecutive days in a prominent place, visible to the public and enrolled families/guardians.
