What the inspector wrote

On May 27, 2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tanya Washington and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Roxana Saravia contacted Program Director, Paula Burchett Interim Executive Director, Farooq Azhar and Center Manager Nursaba Zamani- Ahmad for a scheduled informal meeting which is being conducted over Teams due to COVID-19 pandemic. Today's informal meeting was arranged by the Department to discuss recent Type A citations for violation of children's personal rights, commingling of toddler option program with preschool program and limitations of toddler option. LPM defined the difference between Non-Compliance and an Informal meeting. LPM advised that the purpose of today's meeting is to help the program gain compliance. On March 16, 2021 the Department received a complaint regarding staff mishandling children. On April 12, 2021 the Department received another complaint regarding commingling of age groups and allowing children to stay in the toddler option program passed allowed age limit. The program took the following measures to correct the violations: Staff are being retrained on proper communication and handling of children. Management will conduct frequent announced and unannounced visits to the facility and will shadow and support staff. Site Supervisor will receive additional support regarding managing staff at the facility as well as maintaining records. Management staff is in the process of removing their toddler option program and plan to only operate a preschool program. During today's meeting, LPM suggested for management team to review the Department web site www.ccld.ca.gov for updated regulations and important information regarding licensing. LPM suggested that staff can view informational videos at www.ccld.childcarevideos.org .
