What the inspector wrote

On June 15, 2021 at 12:20 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tanya Washington met with Site Supervisor Dawna Spurgeon for the purpose of an unannounced annual required 1 year inspection. Site Supervisor was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Census included 17 preschool children supervised by five staff members who all have obtained a criminal record clearance through Community Care Licensing. LPA and Site Supervisor toured both classrooms and both play yards. The facility currently operates in preschool classroom #1 and are not utilizing their toddler option program or assigned room #3. The facility plans to remove the toddler option and utilize both classrooms for preschool age children. Room #3 is in the process of being rearranged at this time and the facility doesn't have any toddlers enrolled in the program. Facility is open Monday- Friday from 7 AM to 6 PM. The program provides breakfast, lunch and PM snack. LPA toured all areas used by children including: restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. LPA checked children's medication for expiration dates and reminded Site Supervisor to ensure that medication is not expired. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. Site Supervisor is aware that if no toddler children are present than both play grounds can be used by the preschool age children. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. (Report continues on 809-C) The food preparation space is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting covers. Menus were posted and drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed full legal signatures while reviewing the hand-written sign in and sign out sheet. Staff and children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card and a medical assessment. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, which expires on 02/20/23. All staff records contained the required documentation. LPA reminded Site Supervisor that 100% supervision is required at all times, including in the bathroom. LPA reviewed the Department's inspection authority and discussed with Site Supervisor any changes that may occur regarding her or an employee acting in the Site Supervisor's absence must be reported to department within ten working days. The facility is providing Incidental Medical Services. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. This facility evaluation report was reviewed and discussed with Site Supervisor. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and should remain posted for a period of 30 days for parental review. An exit interview was conducted. No deficiencies were observed at the time of the inspection.
