Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On August 3rd, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst's (LPA's) Mandie Goodwin and Eduardo Barragan met with Director, Mary Patten, to conduct addition interviews for a complaint investigation and deliver findings. Upon arrival LPA's observed 51 preschool children being supervised by 11 staff across 5 rooms. It was alleged that staff inappropriately disciplines daycare children. During the course of the investigation LPA's conducted interviews with staff, children, and clients, made observations, and collected additional documentation. Interviews with staff consistently stated that for “discipline” they redirect the children or talk with them to find a solution to a problem. If needed, the office staff can step in to help provide a calming space for the child. Interviews with children and parents or representatives did not reveal a preponderance of evidence that inappropriate discipline is used. Although the allegation may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is unsubstantiated. No title 22 deficiencies are cited. Exit interview was conducted with Director, Mary Patten, and appeal rights were provided. Notice of site visit was provided and is to be posted for 30 days.
