Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst Jennifer Velasco (LPA) conducted an unannounced case management inspection and met with Licensee Marlene Piedmont (L1). LPA toured the facility, including all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service and outdoor play areas. Upon arrival, LPA observed 10 children in care being supervised by L1 and an assistant. Two of the children were infants, and eight were preschool aged. L1 was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The purpose of today's case management inspection is to verify the facility is following safe sleep regulations for infants (children under two years of age). While at the facility for another purpose on 06/06/23, LPA observed blankets arranged to hang around the outsides of the play yards used for napping infants. At that time, LPA provided technical assistance to L1, referring to regulatory requirements that cribs and play yards shall be free from all loose articles and objects. At that time, L1 removed the blankets and stated she would no longer arrange/affix loose articles on the inside, on the outside, or over the top of the play yards used for napping infants. LPA reviewed 15 minute checks for sleeping infants. During today's inspection, LPA conducted witness interviews, reviewed facility documents, and observed staff providing care to children. Witness statements and facility documentation provided evidence that the facility is following safe sleep regulations No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection. An exit interview was conducted and a notice of site visit was provided and must be posted where visible to parents for 30 days.
