What the inspector wrote

On 11/22/2022, at approximately 2:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amanda Sutter met with Directors Alexis Gonzalez and Kristin Allen for the purpose of an unannounced case management visit. Director requests to increase their Preschool capacity from 12 to 22 children. The facility\342\200\231s hours of operation are 7:30am to 6:00pm. LPA received the fire clearance on 9/19/2022. Upon arrival, there were 3 infants supervised by 2 staff members. A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. LPA reminded Director to inform licensing prior to switching rooms for the different components in the facility. There is one infant room (Ardillitas). LPA re-measured the infant room. The classrooms measure at 606.2628 square feet. This does not accommodate the requested 22 children. 606.2628 square feet accommodates 17 children. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). LPA observed 6 cribs in the napping area. LPA observed sufficient amount of furniture, toys, and play equipment in the classrooms. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Facility uses an electronic sign in/out. LPA observed required positing at entrance of facility. There are 4 toilets, 4 urinals, and 5 sinks available to children, and a separate private restroom for staff is available. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office area and will use the staff restroom, if necessary. There is one outdoor area on the property for preschool children. The outdoor play area is fenced with a wrought iron fence that is at least four feet tall. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys. There are no bodies of water on the premises. There are shaded areas supplied by a shade tent. Director stated they will use a water pitcher and cups outdoors. The total outdoor capacity space is 3520 square feet. The outdoor space will accommodate 46 children. There is a waiver on file allowing the facility to share the outdoor space with the Preschool children. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Continued on LIC809C LPAs discussed with the Director the importance of Children\342\200\231s Personal Rights and encouraged Director to conduct staff training on Personal Rights. Director was encouraged to visit the Department website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for trainings, child care updates, current forms, legislation and regulation information. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days, and in the areas observed no deficiencies were cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Directors Alexis Gonzalez and Kristin Allen. PRIOR TO APPROVAL OF THE CAPACITY CHANGE THE FOLLOWING MUST BE COMPLETED: 1. Submit an Updated LIC 200A
