What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Karyn Guerra and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jennie Tedlos met with Licensee, Christine Mendoza, and Facility Administrator, Sharon Havers, for the purpose of an informal office visit. Today's informal meeting was to discuss the Type A and B citations issued from 4/14/2023-8/30/2023 during Complaint, Case Management, and Annual Inspections. On 4/14/23, the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Criminal Background Clearances. On 5/17/23, the facility was cited a Type B citation regarding Personnel Records. On 6/8/23 , the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Personal Rights. On 6/8/23 , the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Personal Rights. On 6/8/23 , the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Teacher-Child Ratio. On 6/8/23 , the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Buildings and Grounds. On 8/30/23, the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Absence of Supervision. The Licensee stated that they have taken the following steps to maintain compliance: 1. Fencing gap was immediately reinforced and fixed. 2. School meeting about supervision, teachers signed statements acknowledging meeting understanding. 3. Staff watched DSS training videos on Supervision and Personal Rights. 4. Parent-Teacher meetings to have conversations about children's behaviors. 5. Hiring new Montessori trained Head Teachers to maintain ratio. Report continued on 809-C... 6. Head Teacher meetings ever month, All Teacher meetings every other month. 7. Children stay in their own classrooms in the afternoon to help with maintaining an efficient environment for teachers and students. 8. Established multiple steps to navigate difficult behaviors with children. 9. Communication with Parents through the Brightwheel App. Written notices to Parents. Notebook communication to Parents. 10. Criminal Background Clearances procedure with Licensing to verify associations and eligibilities. 11. Established different outside procedures to maintain line of sight. 12. Reminding parents to shut the door when they enter and exit. LPA and LPM reviewed Criminal Record Clearances, Ratio, Personnel Rights, Personal Rights, Buildings and Grounds, and Supervision. LPM discussed the differences between Type A and Type B citations. LPA provided Licensee with Staff Qualifications and Teacher-Children Ratios. LPA provided the regulations Teacher and Aide Qualifications. LPM and LPA provided information regarding the Technical Support Program (TSP), which is a non-enforcement arm of the Community Care Licensing Division offering onsite support to licensees and providers. LPA will follow-up with LPA for TSP services. LPA discussed using the Department website (ccld.ca.gov) for child care updates, legislation, forms and regulation information. LPM suggested viewing information videos at www.ccld.childcarevideos.org . This report was reviewed by Licensee, Christine Mendoza, and Administrator Sharon Havers.
