What Happened
During this FaceTime case management visit, the inspector observed staffing arrangements in Room 2 and on the playground and discussed complaint findings with the director. Interviews showed that children were allowed to use the restroom without supervision and without informing staff when they needed to go. A type B deficiency was cited for the supervision concern.
Observations
- The inspector observed 10 children with one teacher in Room 2.
- The inspector observed 9 children with one teacher on the outside playground.
- Interviews indicated children were allowed to use the restroom without supervision.
- Interviews indicated children did not need to inform staff when they needed to use the restroom.

No child(ren) shall be left without the supervision of a teacher at any time, except as specified in Sections 101216.2(e)(1) and 101230(c)(1). Supervision shall include visual observation. This requirement was not met as evidenced by children are allowed to use the restroom without supervision and do not need to inform staff when they need to go. This poses a potential risk Health, Safety Personal Rights risk to children in care.
