What the inspector wrote

On 02/27/2026, Licensing Program Analyst Pedro Gutierrez conducted an unannounced case management inspection to the home today \342\200\223 increase capacity. LPA met with licensee and explained the nature of today's inspection to her. Present were licensee, her mother (S1), and four daycare children \342\200\223 three infants and one preschool age. A review of staff records on 02/24/2026 indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee Nancy Esparza was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to initial presence in a Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if the regulation is violated. LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas during today's visit. Fire Safety Inspection was conducted on 02/24/2026. Hollister Fire Department did not approve the garage for daycare use. LPA observed a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working combo smoke and carbon monoxide detector, fenced backyard, and no bodies of water. Off-limit indoor: first floor bedroom, first floor master bedroom with bath, pantry in the kitchen, two hallway closets on the first floor, an attached garage, and entire second floor, which includes: three bedrooms, bathroom, and loft. Off-limit outdoor: right side of home that is fenced off to children. LPA verified at least two emergency exits that are clear for use. LPA asked if she had made any changes to the home after the fire clearance inspection, to which she answered no. LPA verified all required postings. Supervision of children was discussed with licensee and she understands that she must be present in the home during day care hours and ensure that the children are supervised at all times. Licensee understands her capacity options and she understands that she cannot have more than eight children in the home at any time. Licensee understands if she transports children via vehicle, children cannot be left in parked vehicles unattended at any time. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Nancy Esparza. No deficiencies cited during the visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
