Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On this date and time, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Laura Mejorado and Perla Ordones conducted a case management inspection with Director, Melissa Mack. A case management inspection is being conducted in response to the receipt of an unusual incident report (UIR) from the facility. LPA Mejorado conducted an initial visit on 03/25/2022 where records were collected, however; due to the school being closed for spring break no staff or children were present to interview. LPA Mejorado conducted a follow up visit on 09/02/2022, however; the pertinent parties who may have knowledge of the incident were not present. The UIR documented an incident where a staff member was accused of speaking inappropriately to children in care. The incident was self-reported, and the Colton Joint Unified School District (CJUSD) conducted an internal investigation into the matter. CJUSD internal investigation was completed and there was not enough evidence to prove that the incident occurred. The subject staff member returned to work after the internal investigation was completed. During today\342\200\231s inspection LPAs interviewed the subject staff member and a subject child. The subject staff member denied speaking inappropriately to children in care. It was disclosed during interviews that the subject staff member was spoken to about their tone and was moved into another classroom with an assistant. Due to the age range of the child, the interview did not reveal information that could be used to corroborate or neglect the allegation. Based on the information gathered and compiled during this investigation there was not enough evidence to corroborate the allegation. No citations were issued at this time. LPAs conducted an exit interview with Site Supervisor Edith Zepeda and provided a copy of this report. A Notice of Site Visit was issued and must remain posted for the next 30 days.
