What the inspector wrote

On 02/21/2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Susan Brewer, arrived unannounced at the facility to continue the Annual Inspection initiated on 02/16/2023. LPA delivered an amended report from 02/16/2023, in addition to the report from today's visit. LPA was greeted and granted entry to tour the facility inside and out. Present were the licensee Brenda Tucker, 1 assistant and 2 adult residents. Normal days and hours of operation are Monday- Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM OFF-LIMIT AREAS INCLUDE: 1st Floor bedrooms, Laundry room, Entire 2nd Floor, Pool area, Garage. \302\267 The facility is operating within the licensed capacity and appropriate ratios. LPA conducted an census and observed 7 children in care. \302\267 The Licensee is present in the home and has ensured that children in care are supervised. \302\267 Documentation of fire & earthquake drills to be conducted every six months: Last dr ill on 02/17/2023 at 9:30 AM with 6 children present and lasted 15 minutes, evacuating to the back yard. \302\267 All hazardous items are inaccessible, this includes detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger to children \302\267 Storage of poisons is inaccessible to children and locked. \302\267 There are bodies of water on 02/21/2023. Licensee understands all bodies of water including ponds, above ground pools & spas, in-ground pools & spas, and some fountains must be properly covered or fenced per Title 22 regulations. The Department must be notified before and after installation of the above types of bodies of water. In addition, all wading pools or similar product must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position. LPA S. Brewer, observed there is a built in pool with black wrought iron fencing separating the pool from the children's play space. The fencing is measured at 50" high and the space between the bars are 4" apart. LPA observed that there is a gate that opens away from the pool that self-latches. Section 102417 (g) (5)(A)1, If licensed prior to June 1, 1995, facilities with existing pool fencing shall be exempt from the fencing requirements specified in Section 1024179g)(5) (A) until such fence is replaced or structurally altered. Licensee Brenda Tucker was reminded that, If the licensee replaces or alters the fence, it shall be required to meet these requirements. Licensee, Brenda Tucker was licensed for family child care 2/25/94 which is prior to June 1, 1995. \302\267 Children\342\200\231s files are complete on 02/21/2023. \302\267 Staff\342\200\231s files are complete on 02/21/2023. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. The licensee will create a plan for the IMS to be followed. No citation issued on today's inspection. No civil penalties issued on today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Brenda Tucker.
