What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Rachel Zeron and Justin Giese arrived at the facility to conduct an annual inspection. LPA toured the facility, inside and out, records were reviewed, and the following was observed and/or discussed: Normal days and hours of operation are: Monday through Friday 8:15am to 12:15pm for the morning session and 1pm to 5pm OFF-LIMIT AREAS INCLUDE: Entire upstairs The facility is operating within the licensed capacity and appropriate ratios The Licensee and assistant provider are present in the home and have ensured that children in care are supervised at this time A working telephone is present Fully-charged fire extinguisher is available at the facility. Smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector are present and were tested by the licensee during this inspection and found to be functioning. All hazardous items are inaccessible, this includes: detergents, cleaning compounds, and other items which could pose a danger to children Storage of poisons is inaccessible to children and locked There is a properly barricaded fireplace Weapons are not present. Licensee understands all guns, weapons and ammunition must be key locked separately and made inaccessible per Title 22 Regulations Stairs are barricaded Home is clean and orderly, with air-conditioning and ventilation for safety and comfort. Safe and appropriate toys and equipment are present for both indoor and outdoor activities.The side Yard and the backyard Outdoor play areas are fenced or appropriate supervision is present Verification of control of property on file (owner) \302\267 Facility Sketch, Emergency Disaster Plan & Notification of Parent\342\200\231s Rights poster are posted \302\267 Pediatric CPR and First Aid Card expires on 08/2024 Mandated Reporter training was completed 10/2019, the certificate is expired and needs to be renewed. Health & Safety Certificate - completed \302\267 There are no bodies of water at this time. Licensee understands all bodies of water including ponds, above ground pools & spas, in-ground pools & spas, and some fountains must be properly covered or fenced per Title 22 regulations. The Department must be notified before and after installation of the above types of bodies of water. In addition, all wading pools or similar product must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position. Clean, safe and age appropriate toys Documentation of fire drills on file. The most recent disaster drill was conducted on 05/01/2023 \302\267 Each child\342\200\231s file contains a copy of the emergency information card with required information The Department was granted inspection authority as required by the Health and Safety Code Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee [or facility representative] was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A technical violation was discussed. During the exit interview, the Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Marie Kusdono.
