What the inspector wrote

On 3/10/2022, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Samuel Lopez and Destinee Hogue arrived at the facility to conduct a Case Management inspection due to a request of an increase in capacity. The Preschool classrooms and playground were toured. A Fire Clearance was granted on 11/17/2021. The days and hours of operation will continue to be: Monday through Friday; 6:30am to 6:30pm. A sample of staff and children files were also reviewed. Measurements were previous taken on 11/13/2019 during the Pre-licensing inspection. Based on those measurements the following has been determined: Preschool Indoor Activity Areas LPA has determined that there is sufficient space to accommodate 143 children. Preschool Bathroom Fixtures 10 toilets x 15 = 150 children 18 sinks x 15 = 270 children Preschool Outdoor Activity Area: LPA has determined that there is sufficient space to accommodate 148 children. Limiting factor for preschool capacity is the Fire Clearance. Preschool capacity is limited to 140 children. The following was observed: · Classrooms are adequately equipped with age and size appropriate furniture and equipment · Water fountains and pitchers supply drinking water in the indoor activity space · Playgrounds are enclosed by appropriate fences · Outdoor activity areas are supplied with age and size appropriate equipment · There are no accessible bodies of water present. All wading pools or similar product must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position. · An adequate amount of cushioning material is in place under play equipment · Adequate shade is provided · Drinking water is provided in the outdoor play areas by water fountains and water pitchers with cups · Food preparation area is clean, free of litter, rubbish and free of rodents and other vermin · The office area is located at the entrance of the facility and a room adjacent serves as an isolation room in case of an illness · Toxins are locked · Medication are stored in the front office and secured in a locked cabinet. If refrigeration is required it is stored in a locked box located in the kitchen · First Aid kit is complete · Sign in/Sign out record was reviewed and meets regulation requirements · The Director was informed of their reporting requirements and is provided with the Regional Office’s Unusual Incident Reporting email mailbox: UnusualIncidentReportsDO09@dss.ca.gov · A review of staff records on 3/10/2022 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. - Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. - This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information, see PIN 22-02-CCP . Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. The requested increase in capacity from 94 to 140 children will be submitted for approval.
