What the inspector wrote

On the above noted date and time, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Diana Brasel conducted an announced Pre-Licensing inspection for a new preschool license. Upon arrival, LPA met with Applicant/Director Jeanette and Linda Grandy Asst. Director . Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 39 preschoolers 3 years 6 months through 5 years of age in the Chipmunk room and Fox room. Hours of operation will Monday - Friday am session 8:30 - 11:30 am and pm session 12:30 - 3:30 pm. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Jeanette Anderson and Linda Grandy that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. When medications are on site, Jeanette Anderson stated that they will be stored in a locked box and placed in a locked closet in the child's classroom. A fully equipped first aid kit is located in closet in each room. There will be an operational carbon monoxide detector placed in each room, see correction needed. All required licensing documents were observed posted in the hallway between the two classrooms . Children will be signed in and out in their child's designated classroom. LPA continued to tour the facility and measured all indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured 1370.43 , which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 39 Children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots/mats, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via (NAME SOURCE OF WATER). LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 05/01/2024. LPA observed a total of 6 sinks and 5 toilets available for children\342\200\231s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 39 children. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with a toilets and a sinks. The isolation area for children who are ill will be located outside of the Chipmunk room in the hallway. Facility will not provide meals or snacks, per the parent handbook. Parents/Guardians are to bring a nutritious snack for their child. There will be an am and pm session which the children will eat their brought snacks. The facility will have backup snacks if needed that do not require refrigeration. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Fencing brick block wall and wrought iron that is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 2458.55 which will only accommodate 32 children at one time. A playground waiver to share the playground at different times in the AM and PM due to limited square footage shall be submitted and approved prior to licensure. Shade is provided via building hang over. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. Drinking water is available via drinking fountain, water bottles and the child's own brought water bottles. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Applicant Jeanette Anderson was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. Criminal Record Clearance - Child Care Centers: Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. -continued on LIC 809C- For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. For IMS information, see PIN 22-02-CCP . A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Proof of a smoke and carbon monoxide detector for each room has been installed. 2. An updated STD 850 shall be obtained to reflect the current requested amount of children- The Department will submit to Fire Marshall and obtain the updated STD 850. 3. The remainder of needed missing or updated documents shall be submitted. 4. An approved granted waiver shall be obtained for the extra restroom located in the community center. 5. An approved granted waiver shall be obtained to share the playground between the two classrooms using a time schedule not to exceed 32 children at a time. Applicant Jeanette Anderson understands that all proof of corrections must be provided to the Department within 30 days, or the application may be denied.
