What the inspector wrote

On the above noted date and time, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Diana Brasel conducted an announced follow-up Pre-Licensing inspection to add a school age component. Currently the school has an existing preschool license with 58 children ages 2-5 in classrooms 1,2,3,& 4. Upon arrival, LPA met with Facility Representative Josiemarie Carino. Initially the applicant requested 15 school-age children, upon completion of initial visit the indoor activity space measured sufficient for 14 children. An updated LIC 200A was obtained for a total of 14 school-age children children ages 5-10 in the elementary classroom has been obtained. The facility will become a single licensed facility under this facility #364846586 and #364846101 will be closed as a single component closure upon granting the school-age component. Hours of operation will be Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 6:00 pm. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Josiemarie Carino that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. When medications are on site, Josiemarie Carino stated that they will be in school office. A fully equipped first aid kit is in staff office. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector on site located in elementary classroom. All required licensing documents were observed posted in the covered hallway. Children will be signed in and out at the covered hallway. All listed corrections on 07/11/2024 have been submitted. Fire clearance was granted on 05/07/2024. LPA will obtain an updated Fire clearance to show the change for school-age from 15 to children 14 children. All indoor and outdoor activity space for the school-age component were measured on 07/11/2024. Total indoor activity space measured 493.57, which is not sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 15 Children. There is no change to the indoor space for the preschool component. An updated LIC 200A and Fire Clearance has been obtained the requested capacity of 14 children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via filtered bottle water. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. LPA observed a total of 1 sinks and a total of 2 Toilets available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 15 children. (the capacity request will be lowered to 14 children). Restrooms afford privacy for children. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with a toilet and a sink. The isolation area for children who are ill will be the school office. Since the 07/11/24 visit the facility has designated a different area for the school-age program. On todays date the school-age playground was measured. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 3760.00, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. The fenced playground area is separate from other component and is at least four feet high made of chain link. Shade is provided via a built in canopy. Age appropriate play equipment will be available to the school-age children. Drinking water is available via water picture and disposable cups. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Facility representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. No corrections are needed. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative Josiemarie Carino. . The request to add the school-age component will be processed as a single license under this facility number and the current facility number of 364846101 will be closed as single component closure.
