What the inspector wrote

LPA's Maddox and Thompson-Miller met with Owner, Claudia Garcia for the purpose of conducting a Pre licensing inspection for an Infant component. This facility sits on the corner of Manhasset and Tussan Ranch Road. The facility consist of 5 classrooms, Staff Room, Office space, 4 bathrooms. and the outside play area. Applicant is also seeking licensure of a Preschool component (X 367750031) and a School age component (X367750030) on the same premises. The Infant component will occupy (when facing the entrance area) the left rear area. Days/hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm. INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE : There are a variety of age-appropriate equipment, toys and materials in good condition and in sufficient quantity to allow children present to fully participate in planned activities. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed individual storage areas for Infants belongings; The child care center was toured and found to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair to ensure the safety and well-being of children, employees and visitors; Indoor activity space for infants is physically separate from space used by the Preschool children and School age children. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, all potential hazardous that could pose a danger if readily available to children were stored and inaccessible to children. The isolation area (located in the front office area) is equipped to isolate and care for any child who becomes ill during the day. LPA observed a changing table in arms reach of a sink, padded surfaces at least 1 inch thick, changing table must be disinfectant after each changing; There are separate staff bathroom located in the hallway. Water temperature is set on a regulated system to ensure a water , temperature of no more than Sign-in and Out Procedure: Center will utilize an electronic sign in and out procedure (Procair) Center has the capability of producing hard copies if needed. NAPPING: Center has emergency evacuation cribs available, cribs are set up in a separate room that has a glass door which allows staff to see into the infant room, in addition, a staff person must remain inside the crib room when Infants are sleeping. LPA also relayed Safe Sleep requirements. Licensee should refer to regulation 102425(J) for documentation requirement including form (LIC 9227) for documentation. Bedding shall be individually stored so that each child's bedding is identifiable and no child's used bedding comes into contact with other bedding. Each infant's bedding shall be used for him/her only. Bedding shall be changed daily, or more often if required. Mattresses shall be wiped with a detergent/disinfectant daily or when soiled or wet; crib mattress shall be maintained in a safe condition with no exposed foam, batting or coils. Water temperature: Hot water temperature controls shall be maintained to automatically regulate temperature of hot water delivered to plumbing fixtures used by children to attain a hot water temperature of not less than 105 degrees F (40.5 degrees C) and not more than 120 degrees F (48.8 degrees C). HEALTH RELATED SERVICES: Staff will only dispense prescription medications, which will stored in the office area. Applicant has a developed plan to implement and to record the administration of prescription and nonprescription medications and to inform the child's authorized representative daily when such medications have been given. LPA observed fully equipped first aid kits, smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors in all classrooms. Infant Room : 15 X 28 = 420/35 = 12 Outdoor Space Infants = 37 X 25 = 925/75= 12 With measurements taken, the Infant Center can accommodate 14 Infants indoors; and 12 Infants outdoors, there is an approved Fire Clearance for 8 Infants. LPA has verified the Director Qualifications, Lead Poisoning training, Mandated Reporter, and required Orientations. When the outside area for the Infants is set up and ready to receive children, the Infant component will be ready for licensure. LPA is recommending a refrigerator in the Infant room for infant bottles, staff shall ensure that each bottle is labeled with each infants name, bottles should be sent home with parents at the end of the day . (Owner states she will add sand, hydro-seed the grass, and repair the cracked concrete bike path).
