What the inspector wrote

On 7/29/21 at 3:00 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, met with Director Debi Carr for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were 34 children present as follows: Pooh Bear Room (2s): 5 children with two teachers; Teddy Bear Room: 8 children with a teacher and an Aide; Polar Bear Room: 10 children with two teachers and Panda Bear Room: 11 children with two teachers. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m .to 5:30 p.m. with the hope of returning to 7:00 a.m. in the Fall. LPA toured the facility. All staff were properly masked. Children were napping, snacking or playing outside but had had masks in their cubbies and the school has disposable if the children forget. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. Children bring their own lunches. The facility provides a.m. and p.m. snack, foods stored per regulation in the kitchen. Snack menus are posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and in operating condition. Medications are kept in the Director's office or the classroom, inaccessible to children. Poisons disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. Playground equipment and outdoor surfaces are in a safe condition No hazards were noted. Portable water is used outdoors. There are no bodies of water, firearms or ammunition on the property. The carbon monoxide detector is operational, in the kitchen and one in the part-day program which is closed for the summer. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and on-the-job training. A sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. Children are evaluated upon entry and monitored throughout the day for signs of illness. The isolation area for ill children awaiting pick up is the Director's office. There are three isolation restrooms, one in the part-day preschool and two in the full-day preschool. There are several staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. SB 792 (staff immunizations) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. This requirement has not been met as evidenced by: Based on LPA's discussion with Director and file review, all but a few of the staff have expired Mandated Reporter training. This is a potential hazard to children in care if not corrected.
