What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Saraliz Velando and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Monica Cuddy conducted an unannounced Annual Licensing Inspection. LPA and LPM were greeted at the front door by Nancy Wright and granted entry after identifying themselves and disclosing the purpose of their visit. The licensee is using the following areas for daycare: Daycare room, Babies room, downstairs bathroom, and Backyard. Off limit areas include: Front yard, Kitchen, Laundry room, Living room, Garage, Master bedroom, master bathroom, Bedroom 1, bedroom 2, bedroom 3, Upstairs bathroom, and upstairs hallway are inaccessible by baby gates. Business Hours are: Monday \342\200\223 Friday, 8am-5pm. The facility currently has 10 children in care of which 3 were infants. Licensee provided a copy of their current roster and is operating within the licensed ratio and capacity. LPA tested the smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector located in the entryway area. Both devices were functional. The fire extinguisher is full and meets regulations. Licensee stated there are no bodies of water on the premises and LPA did not observe any. Licensee, Nancy Wright, stated there are no weapons or ammunition stored on the premises. There are two fireplaces. One is screened to prevent access by children and the other is barricaded to prevent access to children. Where children less than 5 years old are in care, stairs have a safety gate. Storage for poisons, detergents, cleaning solutions, medications are latched and inaccessible to children. Outdoor play area is fenced and free of hazards. The last disaster/fire drill was conducted on 7/11/22. The home is kept clean and orderly with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The home provides safe toys, play equipment and materials. Children\342\200\231s records contained emergency contact information and immunization records. All parents or representatives received a copy of the Family Child Care Home Notification of Parent\342\200\231s Rights. Pediatric CPR and First Aid cards are current and will expire on July 2024. All staff have completed the Mandated Reporter Training AB1207 through July 2024. Staff immunizations were reviewed and in compliance. There is a working telephone and email address. Licensee, Nancy Wright, was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day / per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
