What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Saraliz Velando, made an unannounced visit to deliver the findings of a complaint investigation initiated on 10/19/23. LPA Velando toured the home and there were 6 children in care. The Department investigated the allegation that behavior of an adult in the home poses a risk to children in care. Interviews were conducted with parents, facility staff, and pertinent legal documentation was reviewed. Based on the legal information obtained, there was no behavior of an adult in the home poses a risk to children in care. There is no corroborating evidence to support the allegation and it was determined to be Unsubstantiated. The exit interview was conducted with Licensee, Gabriela Barbosa De Araujo. Appeal Rights and licensing report was reviewed with the licensee. Signature at the bottom of this report confirms receipt. A Notice of Site Visit was provided, posted during this visit, and must remain posted for 30 days.

    Reporting Requirements- (b)The licensee shall report to the Department any of the events as specified in Health and Safety Code Sections 1597.467(b)(1)(A) through (b)(1)(C) that occur during the operation of the family child care home.(3) Health and Safety Code Section 1597.467(b)(1) provides in part: "A report shall be made to the Department…following the occurrence during the operation of a family day care home of any of the following events: (C) Any unusual incident or child absence that threatens the physical or emotional health or safety of any child." This requirement was not met as evidenced by: During the incident on 10/11/23, there was a call placed to 911 and an adult resident was arrested. Licensee failed to report the unusual incident that occurred during daycare hours while there were children in care which posed a potential risk to children in care.
