What the inspector wrote

On 6/24/24 at 11:20 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Renita Rodriguez conducted an unannounced annual inspection with the Licensee. Upon arrival, LPA identified herself. LPA met with Licensee, Hosnya Kofi. The two story 2 bedroom 2 bathroom town home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. Present in the home was licensee, licensee spouse (Ihsanullah Kofi) and licensee 3 minor children. No daycare children in care present at time of inspection. Licensee states there are 11 children in care enrolled which includes 2 infants are enrolled. Licensee has provided adequate space for the children to eat, sleep and play within the home. Areas used for childcare include living room, dining room and back yard located on the 1 st floor. 1 bedroom, and 1 bathroom located on the 2 nd floor. Off limits areas is the master bedroom, master bathroom, and closet converted to bedroom, located on the 2 nd floor and is made inaccessible through door latch and doorknob cover. The stairs leading to the 2 nd floor is secured with security gate. The licensee has sufficient toys and play equipment available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. The fire extinguisher (3A40BC), smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector meet requirements and are operational. All hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. There is a community swimming pool which meets regulations. Licensee states a key is needed to open the gate leading to the swimming pool. Licensee states that there are no weapons in the home and LPA did not observe any. First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 6/22/26. Licensee has required immunizations. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training 8/2022 and is reminded it must be completed every 2 years. Children\342\200\231s and Staff records were reviewed and found to be in order. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information- andresources /safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [or facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Technical Violation issued The provider shall supervise infants while they are sleeping and adhere to the following requirements: The provider shall physically check on the infant every 15 minutes. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Hosnya Kofi. During the exit interview, the Licensee, Hosny Kofi, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
