What Happened
During an unannounced annual inspection of the family child care home, inspectors found several safety and compliance issues, including accessible hazardous items and an incomplete child roster. The home otherwise had required detectors, clearances, and safe sleep basics in place, though infant sleep checks were not being documented.
Observations
- Knives were found in a kitchen drawer because the drawer safety latch was twisted and did not lock.
- Clorox and cleaning tablets were accessible in a bathroom drawer.
- Five of seven daycare children present were not included on the current child roster.
- The provider physically checked sleeping infants every 15 minutes but did not document the times in the sleep log.
