What the inspector wrote

On 10/24/2025 at 8.55am Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jody Dye and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Renesha Askew conducted an unannounced inspection with the Licensee. LPA identified self, disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee daughter, Jordan Chaput. Also present in the home were the licensee Jamie Dodge, employees Hadara McGlennon, and 9-day care children including 5 preschool, 4 infants, and licensee's own grandchild (school age) At approximately 9:30am an additional PK child arrived for a total of 11 children in care. The one-story five-bedroom three-bathroom home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. Licensee has provided adequate space for the children to eat, sleep and play within the home. Areas used for childcare include Bedroom #5, bathroom #3, living room, kitchen, dining room, and backyard. Off limits include Bedroom #1, bedroom #2, bedroom #3, bedroom #4, bathroom #2, bathroom #3, and right side of yard are inaccessible using child proof doorknob locks on the door handles and fencing. There is a separate back house that includes an additional bedroom #6 and bathroom #4 which are made off-limits using a locked door. The licensee has sufficient toys and equipment available. The home has a screened fireplace making it inaccessible.The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. There is a fenced off chicken coop and dog area in the backyard which are inaccessible. Licensee advised to always provide visual supervision when children are outdoors. LPA noticed a play structure in the backyard, which contains swings that are not bolted to the ground. LPA also noted a covered grill, and a screened trampoline that had a broken zipper and was unlatched. The day care includes cameras inside the home in the childcare areas including the living room, bedroom 5, dining room, and two cameras outdoors in the backyard. Continued on LIC 809-C page 2 The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector meet requirements and are operational. LPA inspected the on-limits bathroom for children and found a bottle of shampoo and conditioner in the shower accessible to children. Licensee was able to remove the items to a storage area that is inaccessible to children. All other hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. The home has central air and heat for climate control. There is no body of water in the home. Licensee states that there are no weapons in the home. First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 3/09/2026. Licensee has required immunizations. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training on 4/09/2024. Children\342\200\231s records were reviewed and found to be in order. LPA reviewed staff files and one of three staff members did not have a current tuberculosis test result on file. Facility roster is maintained, reviewed, and a copy was received. The licensee conducted and documented fire and disaster drills on 10/16/2025. Required documents are posted. There is one crib or play yard for each infant. LPA reviewed safe sleep plans and observed 15 minute checks being conducted. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. Providers are hereby reminded of the following: Report suspected child abuse and neglect, maintain children\342\200\231s records according to regulation, post all required forms, corporal punishment, smoking, exersaucers, bouncy seats, walkers, and jumpers are not allowed in day care. All equipment that is used should be used only as intended by the manufacturer. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Continued on LIC 809-C page 3 Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee states is registered to receive Provider Information Notices (PINs). LPA discussed and provided Licensee with the following: childcare advocates-email address: childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov . See LIC809D for deficiencies cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Jamie Dodge. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
