What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Saraliz Velando conducted an announced prelicensing inspection. LPA was greeted at the front door by Licensee, Rahima Arman. The 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. Applicant states that operating hours are Mon-Sat, 5AM to 1AM. The fire extinguisher is 3A40BC and meets regulations while located in the kitchen area. The carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector also meet requirements and are operational and located in the hall area by the kitchen. All hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. There is a body of water in the backyard that will need to meet pool safety regulations before a license can be issued. Licensee states that there are no weapons in the home and LPA did not observe any. Licensee is a homeowner and has provided proof. CPR/First Aid will expire in August 2026. Mandated Reporter Training Certificate will expire July 2027. CPR and Mandated reporter training is required to be renewed every 2 years. The Licensee will be using the following rooms for childcare: Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Bathroom #2. The following areas will be off limits: Bedroom #1, #2 & #3, Family Room, Bathroom #1, Covered Deck, and Backyard. The applicant has sufficient toys and equipment available. There is a nearby park for outdoor play and Licensee understands the children will require constant supervision. Fire clearance was granted on 8/6/25. The following was reviewed with the applicant including information on child abuse reporting, children\342\200\231s records, immunizations, adults living or working in the home, car seat law, shaken baby syndrome, SIDS and safe sleep, effects of lead poisoning, Incidental Medical Services, and the YMCA Resource Center. Licensee was reminded that corporal punishment, smoking, walkers, exersaucers, jumpers and bouncy seats are not allowed in day care. All equipment that is used should be used only as intended by the manufacturer and check for recalls. LPA and Licensee discussed California Megan's Law and LPA provided: www.meganslaw.ca.gov . LPA discussed and provided applicant with the following: Child Care Advocates - email address childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov . In addition, for common questions or questions regarding licensing requirements to contact the Child Care Licensing duty line at 619-767-2248. Incidental Medical services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual \342\200\223 Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following corrections are needed prior to the issuance of the license: \302\267 All pool safety requirements: A life ring (17in diameter), rescue pole with body hook minimum of 12 ft, fence around the pool minimum of 5ft, self-latching gate with key lockable device that swings out, and safety pool cover or pool alarm. LPA informed applicant to submit pictures of the corrections to the Department by the due date of 9/29/25 and LPA will conduct an inspection of the pool safety requirements. Once all corrections are made a license for 14 children will be granted. This report was reviewed with Licensee, Rahima Arman and a copy was provided during the visit. Copy of appeal rights was also provided.
