What the inspector wrote

On 08/06/2024 at 1:05pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with facility representative Mare Williams. Facility is currently licensed to care for 8 infants in room #1 Bambini Uno. Licensee is requesting a capacity increase to 16 infants by adding room #2 aka Bambini Due. Facility operates Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. Present during today’s inspection were 8 infants with 2 staff in room #1. Appropriate ratio and supervision was observed. All staff members have the required background clearances and are associated to the facility. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Co-Director Mare Williams that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPA continued to tour the facility and the total indoor activity space measured to be 736.43 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 16 Children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, cribs, napping mats, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. There are 7 cribs available in room 1. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via the Britta Filter water pitcher in each classroom. Both classrooms has a sink and changing table within the arms reach. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 07/02/2024. LPA observed a total of 3 sinks and 1 toilet available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 16 children. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. There is a brick wall fencing that is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 656.72 square feet and it is sufficient for only 8 children at one time, insufficient for the number of children being requested. A playground waiver to for the infants to share the playground at different times in the AM and PM due to limited square footage was submitted to LPA during today's inspection. Shade is provided via pop up canopy shade and umbrella. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is a no climbing structure on the playground. Drinking water is available via the children's zippy cups and bottles during outdoor activities. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Facility representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. The following correction are needed prior to the issuance of the capacity increase: Obtained an approved outdoor playground waiver granted by the department. Submit an updated admission agreement to reflect the change of the age of the infants to be 0 to 24 months. Place a toilet for infant use sign above the toilet that is designated for potty training infants in room 2. Facility representative understands that proof of correction must be provided to the Department within 30 days, or the application may be denied.
