What the inspector wrote

On 07/13/2021 at 9:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Samantha Salunga conducted a Change of Location Pre-Licensing inspection. LPA met with CEO/Director, Cassandra (Cassie) Hall and CFO, Hannah Lott-Schwartz. The preschool program will operate in the "Pre-K 1" and "Pre-K 2" classrooms. Fire clearance was granted on 06/30/2021. All indoor and outdoor activity space was measured today. Total indoor play space measured at approximately 870.94 sq. ft., which will accommodate a total of 24 children. The outdoor play area consists of a large grass field and black top area. The total preschool outdoor play space measured at approximately 8,122 sq. ft. which will accommodate a total of 108 children at one time. LPA observed that the fencing facing the main road is not 4 ft. tall. LPA observed all indoor play space to be complete with age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. There are a total of total of 2 toilets and 2 sinks available for the children. One of the two sinks is located directly outside of the Pre-K 2 classroom. Children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the bathroom/sink and under direct visual observation. There is a staff restroom located above the Pre-K 2 classroom. The Director's office and staff restroom will be the isolation area for children who are ill. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector on site located in the Pre-K 1 classroom. Sign-in area is located in the front courtyard area. Applicant was reminded to keep anything that reads, \342\200\234Keep Out of Reach of Children\342\200\235 to be inaccessible to children. Applicant is reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. When LPA inspected the outdoor playground, LPA observed several trees and canopies used for shade. Drinking water is readily accessible via water bottles and water jugs. See 809C for continuation... This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. Applicant states she understands that all staff must have a criminal record clearance and be associated to the facility prior to having a presence in the Center. Child Care Providers can now sign up for Quarterly Updates and PINS through the DSS website. Please go to www.ccld.ca.gov and click on \342\200\234Receive Important Updates,\342\200\235 then enter your email address and choose which program you would like to subscribe to and click subscribe. LPA also shared and reviewed Playground Safety Handbook, Risk in Play article, YMCA Childcare Resource Service, Helping Young Children Cope with Disaster, Active Supervision Handout, and COVID-19 Early Care and Education handout. Prior to licensure, the following is needed: Extend the fence facing the main road to meet at least 4 ft. from the ground Due to computer malfunction, LPA typed up and read this report to Ms. Lott-Schwartz via telephone after the inspection was concluded. Exit interview was conducted. The maximum capacity that the facility can be licensed for is 24 children due the limited indoor square footage. Once corrections have been made and submitted, a preschool license for 24 children (ages 2- Kindergarten) may be granted upon final file review. This report will be emailed to Ms. Hall and Ms. Lott-Schwartz and shall be kept available at the facility for public review for 3 years.
