Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 03/03/2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Clenista conducted an unannounced case management site inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with CFO, Hannah Lott-Schwartz. This facility houses a school-age a program in addition to the preschool program. Purpose of this visit was to address facility's request to update what rooms are used for which program and increase their overall preschool capacity (24 to 48 children). Facility requested that the preschool program now operate in Eucalyptus, Poplar 1 and 2, Atelier and the Oak room which is requested to be shared with both programs at different times. A waiver to have the Oak room shared between the two programs along with a schedule shall be submitted to CCL. LPA observed the Oak room to have to separate closets, one having a sign for preschoolers and the other for school agers. At no time shall preschoolers and school-agers occupy the Oak room at the same time. All rooms were previously measured during LPA's pre-licensing inspection conducted on 07/13/2021. Using those previous measurements, the total square footage of all the indoor activity space that will be used by preschoolers measured at a total of 1,712.84 sq. ft. which is sufficient for 48 children. LPA inspected the facility upon ar rival and observed 18 children present with 3 staff members playing outdoors. LPA observed all indoor play space to be complete with age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. There are no changes with regards to the outdoor play. There are a total of 4 toilets (sufficient for 60 children) and 3 sinks (sufficient for 45 children) designated for just the preschool children . There is another sink and toilet located near the director's office which Ms. Lott-Schwartz requested it be shared with the school age children since it also provides privacy. LPA informed Ms. Lott-Schwartz that a bathroom waiver will need to be submitted and approved prior to licensure, otherwise, facility can only go up to a maximum of 45 preschool children. Prior to licensure, a shared activity space (along with schedule) and bathroom waiver shall be submitted to CCL and approved. No deficiencies were cited today. NOTICE OF SITE VISIT IS TO BE POSTED FOR 30 DAYS. LPA observed Ms. Lott-Schwartz post notice of site visit.
