What the inspector wrote

On 08/15/2022 at 10:25am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Samantha Clenista conducted an announced Change of Ownership Pre-Licensing inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director (who is qualified), Kimberly Holloway, and Administrator, Melody Andrews. LPA toured the facility and observed 29 children present with a total of 4 staff members. The Preschool Program (children ages 2-5) will operate in the following Rooms: 1, 2, 3 and 4. Fire clearance was granted on 08/01/2022. There is a First Aid Kit kept in each classroom and storage closet under the stairs. Medications are on site and are located in a storage closet under stairs. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children were inspected and measured today. The indoor play space measured at approximately 1,916.12 sq. ft. which will accommodate a total of 54 children. The outdoor playground area measured at approximately 5,673.52 sq. ft., which will accommodate no more than 75 children at one time. LPA observed the indoor play space to be complete with age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. There is a total of 4 toilets, 1 urinal and 4 sinks available for the children. Children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the bathroom and under direct visual observation. There is a separate bathroom for staff located in the church building, across the preschool building and is also designated for use by children who are ill. The director's office is used as the isolation area for children who are ill. There is a carbon monoxide detector on site located in each classroom. The kitchen area currently includes a sink, 3 refrigerators, microwave and stove. Food and beverages are located in the kitchen. All required documents for the parents and employees are posted. Sign-in is via electronic iPad which is located in the front foyer. Outdoor play area is fenced, has trees and canopies used for shade and age appropriate toys and play equipment. Drinking water is readily accessible inside and outside the classroom via water fountains and refillable water jugs and sippy cups for each child (which the facility requires the parent/guardian to bring). Facility has an approved Incidental Medical services (IMS) policy for epi-pen and inhaler. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Ms. Holloway was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA reviewed the updated LIC311A with Ms. Holloway today and reminded to keep anything that reads, \342\200\234Keep Out of Reach of Children\342\200\235 inaccessible to children. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platform. This report shall be kept available at the facility for public review for 3 years
