Inspector’s narrative
What the inspector wrote
On 04/07/2025 at 9:00AM, Licensing Program Analyst, Hanna Lucas, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of annual inspection and also evaluated the facility for a requested age range change. LPA met with the Director, Nicole Hazim, and toured the facility. There were 29 children present with 3 fully qualified teachers in 3 classrooms (Classroom #1/101, Classroom #3/103, Classroom #4/104). Classroom #2/102 is currently being used as the science room but is being accessed to become a set classroom for 2 to 3-year-olds. Fire clearance was received on 03/26/2025 for Classroom #2/102. Facility is within ratio and capacity.
The rooms were clean and in a comfortable temperature during the visit. Adequate ventilation and heating are available. All required forms were posted in the front office. The furniture, books, games, and toys are safe, and age appropriate. There is a variety of activities provided throughout the day. The large and small playground is fully fenced and separate from other programs with age-appropriate play equipment. On the playground there is sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. Drinking water is available at all times, as staff ensures that each child has their own personal water bottle. Each classroom has a Brita to refill the children’s water bottles. Upon entry children are monitored throughout the day for signs of illness. The isolation area for ill children awaiting pick up is the front office.
The children’s lunches are stored in their backpacks, which are labeled and hung up in each classroom. The facility does provide morning and afternoon snack, that is nutritious and of good quantity. The food is prepared in the kitchen/staff break room, which is clean and orderly. There is no expired or contaminated food present, and the food has been stored separately from any chemicals or cleaning products. A cleaning crew comes every day after hours and cleans the entire facility.
The menu is posted, changes are recorded, and the menus are stored for 30 days. Napping/bedding equipment is stored separately from the children’s play area. Each child has their own cot and blankets that are labeled. Cots are sanitized regularly, and the children’s blankets are sent home with the parent every Friday, to wash thoroughly. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary, and operating condition.
There are several staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector and fire alarm in each classroom are operational. The facility has a written disaster plan in place, and they have been conducting and documenting evacuation drills every six months. The last drill was conducted on January 1
st
, 2025. The facility does not transport children.
