What the inspector wrote

On 06/05/2024 at 1:18pm , Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Selina Siao and Nancy Diaz conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Director, Vianney Barraza . Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 59 preschoolers ages (2 to Kindergarten) in three classrooms. Facility shall not have more than 19 children in the Mariquita Room and no more than 20 children in classrooms Mariposa and Abejas per the fire department. Applicant is also requesting to be license for up to 35 infants in two classrooms Capuulos and Oruga. (There shall be no more than 5 crib infants in the Orguas Room) due to the limited cribs in the room for the children. Hours of operation is Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm. Present during today\342\200\231s inspection were 17 children during nap time in the two infant classrooms supervised by 3 staff members. And there were 21 children napping on napping mats in the Mariposa and Abejas classrooms supervised 2 staff members. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed facility representative that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. The indoor activity space was recently measured to be 1248.77 square feet for the two infant classrooms and the three preschool classrooms were previously measured to be 2105.47 square feet which are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of the 94 Children. LPAs observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cribs, mats, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available inside and outside the classrooms via water bottles and refillable water bottles . LPAs observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 5/29/2024. There are 5 sinks and 5 toilets and 1 urinal available for the preschool children and there are 3 sinks and 2 changing tables within arm's reach of a sink for the infant program.. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. The brick wall and vinyl fencing is at least four feet high. The square footage for all the Infant outdoor activity space is 3592.67 square feet and the square footage for the Preschool outdoor activity space is 5584.50 square feet, which are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Adequate shade is available for the children. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. LPAs observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Facility representative Vianney Barraza was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). A total license capacity of 94 children with 35 infants (ages 0-2 year old) and 59 preschooler (ages 2- kindergarten) will be granted effective today. See LIC809D for citation issued today. Notice of site visit shall be posted for 30 days.
