Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On May 29, 2026 at 3:30PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Hector Canton initiated a case management visit to cite deficiencies that were discovered during an unrelated visit. During the visit, LPA collected a census of 6 infants with 2 fully qualified infant teachers. During this case management visit, LPA became aware that the facility was using drop side cribs for infants in care. Per regulatory requirements, any banned or recalled furniture and equipment are prohibited from use. Drop side cribs were banned in 2011 due to suffocation risks to infants. LPA also informed the director of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Also during the facility tour, LPA witnessed multiple children using sleep sacks including children using sleep sacks as blankets. LPA reminded the director that there shall be no loose articles in the cribs or swaddling while in care. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with the facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. See LIC 809-D for deficiencies cited. An exit interview was conducted and the report was reviewed with director, Gaby Nesic. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. Appeal rights and this report were reviewed and provided.
