What the inspector wrote

On 05/14/25, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kelli Waters arrived unannounced for the purpose of a capacity increase request. LPA met with Licensee, Amor Cole and toured the facility inside and out, records were reviewed, and the following was observed and/or discussed: On 04/03/25, a fire safety inspection took place, and a fire clearance was granted by Valley Center Fire Department for a large capacity Family Childcare Home (FCCH). • Normal days and hours of operation are: Monday thru Friday 8:00am-5:00pm • Off-limit areas include: Pantry area, garage, and entire second floor. • Working fire extinguisher, smoke, and carbon monoxide detector are present • All hazardous items are stored inaccessible to children • Toxins are locked and inaccessible to children in care • Weapons are present and stored according to regulations. Licensee understands all guns, weapons and ammunition must be key locked separately and made inaccessible per Title 22 Regulations • Stairs have a barricade Licensee stated she understands when more than 8 children are present, an assistant is required. In the event that an assistant is absent, licensee was reminded that ratios must return to a small family child care. Licensee was reminded and stated they understand that licensee needs to be present in the day-care when children are present for at least 80% per day. Licensee understands that a background clearance need to be verified prior to employment or presence in the childcare. Once processed, license will be approved for a maximum capacity of 14 children with parent notification and no more than 3 infants at one time. If 12 children are present, no more than 4 may be infants. Infants are defined as any child under 24 months of age. An exit interview was provided to Licensee Amor Cole, along with a copy of this report and a Notice of Site visit, which must remain posted in a prominent space for 30 consecutive days.
