Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kelly Gerth conducted an unannounced annual inspection for a large family childcare on the above date and time. LPA met with Licensee Alejandra Sanchez who guided LPA on a tour of the home. There was 06 child present with Licensee, Assistant and 1 additional child arrived as LPA entering home. The facility operates Monday through Friday from 07:30 AM to 05:30 PM each day. Certain areas are off-limits, including the 2 nd floor, right side of backyard, front living room, dining room and garage. The facility is licensed as a large Family Child Care Home (FCCH) with a maximum capacity of fourteen children and is operating within the licensed capacity of the license. The fire clearance for a large family childcare was approved on 03/25/2025 by Escondido Fire Department. A working telephone is available, and the current phone number on file is correct. A fully charged fire extinguisher (2A:10BC) was observed, along with a functioning smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. The fireplace is properly screened to prevent access by children, and all hazardous items, including toxins, are stored securely and are inaccessible to children. Stairs are inaccessible when children are in care. Weapons are present and are stored according to Title 22. Licensee Alejandra Sanchez understands all guns, weapons and ammunition must be key locked separately and made inaccessible per Title 22 Regulations. LPA Gerth observed an in-ground pool and hot tub/jacuzzi located in the backyard of the home. LPA Gerth inspected the pool and the following was observed; The enclosure is at least 60 in tall, with a vertical clearance between ground and fence of less than 2 inches. The access gate is self-latching, opens away from the pool and is self-closing with a lockable device and is also no lower than 60 inches above the ground. There is a fixed length rescue pole with a body hook, both pole and hook combined measure 12+ feet in length. The hook and pole are visible from the pool and available for immediate use. The life ring was observed to be a minimum of 17 inches in diameter with a Coast Guard approved label, visible from the pool and available for immediate use. The pool was observed to have a pool alarm that sounds upon disturbance of water and is compliant with ASTM International Standard F1346-23 and tested by Licensee during the inspection. Additionally, the pool has a second fence enclosing the area, which is 5 ft tall and has a key lock system available to use. LPA reviewed and confirmed the daily pool inspection log is current and signed off daily to ensure all safety measures are in place before the facility opens. The facility provides clean, safe, and age-appropriate toys for children. Licensee currently has 12 children enrolled, and maintains a roster. The required postings, including the Facility Sketch, Emergency Disaster Plan, and Notification of Parent’s Rights, are displayed. Fire and disaster drill documentation is maintained, with the last drill conducted on 12/08/25. Both children's and employees' records are complete. Mandated Reporter Training has been completed and is valid until 02/22/2027 The Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification expires on 08/2026 . Licensee’s Health and Safety Certificate was completed on 01/17/2021. Resident and staff records were reviewed, and all adults requiring caregiver background checks have received the necessary clearances and exemptions. Licensee Alejandra Sanchez was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee Alejandra Sanchez and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep , as an additional resource. LPA also informed Licensee of the importance of checking for and removing recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/ , and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters, and other important information communication platforms. On this date, 05/21/2026, the California Attorney General - Megan’s Law website was searched for information on sex offenders required to register with local law enforcement under California's Megan's Law. No registered sex offenders were found at the facility address. During the exit interview, Licensee Alejandra Sanchez confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. There are no deficiencies being cited at this time. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this this report was reviewed with and handed to Licensee Alejandra Sanchez Appeal rights were discussed and provided during the exit interview.
