What the inspector wrote

On 04/28/20 at 9:30 a.m., Licensing Program Analysts (LPA's), Edgar Campana and Rajani Goudreau\302\240 arrived at the facility to conduct a licensee-initiated case management visit for a playground inspection. Upon arrival, LPA's met with Director of Preschool and Childcare Services, Lisa Alonso, and proceeded to tour the facility. There were 10 children present in preschool classroom and two (2) staff members.\302\240 Facility is within ratio/capacity limitations. The Facility is seeking approval of the front play space and side playground and play structure for the preschool program; play structure was previously approved for use by school-age children. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 3:05 p.m . LPAs observed required postings. The side playground (adjacent to the preschool classroom) was inspected and measures a total of 3,843.65 square feet, and the front play space measured a total of 561 square feet, totalling 4,404.65 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 58 children. However, facility is not requesting a capacity increase. The side playground is fenced and includes an outdoor composite play structure, which is shaded and is approved for ages 2-5 years old and has sufficient rubber cushioning underneath. There is an awning that is used for shade if needed near the entrance to the side playground, and another awning near the entrance to the front play space. The front outdoor play space is fenced and includes children's benches. There are two restrooms available for exclusive use by day care children. One restroom is inside preschool classroom and has one sink and one toilet. The other restroom is located by the side playground and has one toilet and one sink. Drinking water is readily available during outdoor activities by the use water fountains and/or water pitchers. Proper supervision and placement of staff on the playground was advised to ensure the safety of children at all times. LPA's received an updated LIC610 - Emergency Disaster Plan and the facility and the elementary school sketch's. An updated fire clearance will have to be obtained due to the change in the name of the classroom from classroom #700 to preschool classroom. An exit interview was conducted with Lisa Alonso. The following reports were discussed and provided during the exit interview: LIC809, LIC809-C, Appeal Rights and Notice of Site Visit. The Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for 30 days from today's date. The front out door play space and the side outdoor playground area are licensed and available for the children's use.
