What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jennifer Lott conducted an unannounced Annual Licensing inspection. LPA was greeted at the front door by Assistant Director, Jesslyn Watson and granted entry after identifying herself and disclosing the purpose of her visit. The facility currently has 8 children in care. The facility is operating within their licensed ratio and capacity. The facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous are locked and inaccessible to children. Assistant Director, Watson advised advised there are no weapons or ammunition being stored or on the premises. There are no bodies of water on the premises. The last disaster fire drill was performed on 03/22/2023. Outdoor play area is fenced and free of hazardous items. There are separate play areas for school age children and other children in the center. The areas around or under climbing equipment, swings and slides are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp/pointed parts. All toilets, hand washing and flooring are clean and in sanitary condition. All kitchen, food prep and storage areas are kept clean, free of trash , insects and other vermin. Menus are posted one (1) week in advance in a place visible by the child\342\200\231s representative. All containers used for solid waste have tight fitting covers that are secured and in good repair. Uncontaminated drinking water is readily available indoors and out. There is a separate complete record for each child enrolled in the center. Children's records contained emergency contact information. All individuals subject to a criminal record review have obtained a clearance and/or an exemption. The licensee and other personnel have completed training on preventive health practices including pediatric CPR and First Aid. One staff with CPR/First Aid is available at all times when children are at the facility or off-site. All staff have completed the mandated Child Abuse Reporting as per AB1207. Personnel records are maintained on the licensee, administrator and each employee and include educational background, training and/or experience. All personnel have a health screening including immunizations. The facility does not provide assistance with medication administration at this time. Assistant Director, was reminded that all employees and volunteers 18 and over working in the facility must obtain criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day / per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
