What the inspector wrote

On 08/06/2025, at 01:15 PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Dana Stevens conducted an unannounced annual required Inspection. LPA met with the Licensee, Patricia Guliasi and disclosed the purpose of the inspection. Upon LPA's arrival, there were eight (8) napping children, three of whom are school-age, and three (3) of whom are under 24 months present during this inspection. Licensee's regular assistant was not present at the time of the inspection, however licensee's adult son was present and assisting with childcare. At 1:40 PM, one of the children under 24 months was picked up by the parent. Days and hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The indoor and outdoor of this single story, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathroom home was inspected. The following areas are used for childcare: living room, dining room, bedroom 2, bedroom 3, hallway bathroom, backyard patio, and upper backyard play area. Off limits areas include: master bedroom, bathroom 2 (inside of master), laundry room, side yard (right side of patio). They are made inaccessible to day care children by use of door locks, door knob covers and safety gates. Licensee is reminded to maintain visible supervision of children at all times during outdoor play.The fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detector meet requirements. Disinfectants, cleaning compounds and medications where inaccessible to children. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. During inspection LPA observed that the door to the bedroom where infants were sleeping was closed. LPA discussed safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. See LIC 809C Continuation... Licensee stated that there are no bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed no bodies of water on the premises during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. The last fire/disaster drill was conducted and documented on 05/2025. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. First Aid and CPR certifications for licensee is valid and expires 08/27. Mandated Reporter training for licensee was completed in 04/2023 and needs to be renewed. LPA informed licensee to ensure the mandated reporter training is completed once every two years. LPA observed the required documents posted. A sample of children\342\200\231s files were reviewed and determined to be complete. Incidental Medical services (IMS) policy was discussed. An exit interview was conducted with Licensee, Patricia Guliasi and a copy of this report along with Appeal Rights (9058) and LIC 9102 AN were provided. A Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days from today\342\200\231s date. LPA observed Notice of Site Visit posted to bulletin board in the entry area of the facility. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
