On May 4, 2026, at 9:20 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Vicky Williamson conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection. LPA met with licensee's daughter/assistant Jessica Garcia and discussed the purpose of the inspection. Also present is licensee's assistant Maricruz Alcaraz. There were five daycare children present, and two additional children under the age of 10 years who are Jessica Garcia's children. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. At 10:15 AM, Licensee Maria Garcia arrived to the facility. This facility is a single level, four (4) bedrooms, two (2) bath home. LPA accompanied by licensee's assistant Jessica Garcia toured the indoor and outdoor of the home. The following areas are used for child care: living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom #4 (daycare room), daycare room #2 (adjacent main daycare room), bathroom #2 (hallway) and the fenced front yard. Off limits areas are bedroom #1 (master bedroom), bedroom #2, bedroom #3, bathroom #1 (inside of master bedroom), office, covered patio that leads from daycare room #2, fenced backyard, storage room (located on the back of home) and the garage. The off-limit areas are inaccessible to children through use of safety locks and doorknob covers. Licensee states that the front yard is used for outdoor activities for children. The licensee is reminded that children should always be supervised during outdoor activities. LPA advised the licensee that prior to making alterations or additions to the home or grounds, the Licensee shall notify the Department of the proposed change. The backyard area is currently under construction and licensee notified the Department of the changes. Licensee will submit an updated sketch to the Department, no later than May 18, 2026. See LIC 809C Continuation... Licensee stated there are no bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed no bodies of water on the premises during time of inspection. Licensee stated there are no firearms, other weapons, or ammunition in the home. The fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors meet requirements and are operational. All poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other hazardous items in the home are made inaccessible to children through latches, locks, and/or placed on high surfaces. Licensee has children's toys, play equipment and books available. Licensee has a home phone and working cell phone. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification for licensee and assistant Jessica Garcia is valid through June 2027 and for assistant Maricruz Alcaraz is valid through September 20, 2026. The licensee and assistants have required immunization records on file. Mandated Reporter training certification for licensee is valid through June 15 2026, for assistant Jessica Garcia through July 18, 2026 and assistant Maricruz Alcaraz August 7, 2026. LPA informed licensee to ensure the mandated reporter training is completed once every two years. The last fire drill was conducted and documented on April 6, 2026. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee is reminded that corporal punishment, smoking, exersaucers, bouncy seats, walkers, and jumpers and/or similar equipment are not allowed in daycare. During the exit interview, the Licensee Maria Garcia, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
