What the inspector wrote

On March 03, 2023 at 10:49 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Edgar Campana conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the facility assistant, Vivian Leon.\302\240 Ms. Leon stated that Licensee was currently at a dentist appointment. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by Ms. Leon. Four (4) daycare children were present in the facility during this inspection.\302\240Two adult employees, who are cleared and associated, were also present. This facility is a two story, four bedroom, three bathroom house. Assistant accompanied LPA during this inspection. Daycare areas include: living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, daycare bathroom, and downstairs bedroom. Off limits areas includes: garage, entire second floor and backyard. Second floor is made inaccessible by means of a safety gate. Backyard is made inaccessible through a door lock. Assistant stated that a nearby park is used for outdoor activities. LPA reminded assistant to maintain supervision of children at all times during outdoor activities. The fire extinguisher, type 3-A:40-B:C is operational and is located in the living room. The smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors met requirements.\302\240 All hazardous items were inaccessible to children. The facility has toys, play equipment and materials available for children's use.\302\240Licensee\342\200\231s and staff's First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 03/06/2023. Staff indicated that CPR will be renewed week of 03/03/2023. Licensee and staff have required immunizations.\302\240 Mandated Reporter Training certificates expire on 03/2023 and assistant stated that certificates will be renewed this month. Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed.\302\240The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 02/2023. Assistant stated that there are no firearms in the home. LPA provided and discussed the following:\302\240 Report suspected child abuse and neglect, maintain children\342\200\231s records according to regulation, post all required forms, and ensure that all adults residing or working in the home have criminal background clearances or exemptions.\302\240 Assistant was reminded that corporal punishment, smoking, exersaucers, bouncy seats, walkers, and jumpers and/or similar equipment are not allowed in daycare. Assistant was also given information regarding Safe Sleep Regulations/SIDS, Lead exposure and Shaken Baby Syndrome.\302\240 LPA and assistant discussed California Megan's Law and LPA provided: www.meganslaw.ca.gov . LPA discussed and provided assistant with the following: child care advocates email address: childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov . In addition, for general questions or questions regarding licensing requirements contact the Child Care Licensing Duty Line at (619) 767-2248. Incidental Medical services (IMS) policy was discussed.\302\240When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department.\302\240 The following information regarding ADA was provided:\302\240 US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication:\302\240 Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm . No deficiencies cited during today's visit. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with facility assistant, Vivian Leon. The following was provided to assistant: LIC809, Appeal Rights, and Notice of Site Visit. Assistant was advised that Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 days from today's visit.
