What the inspector wrote

On 10/06/2021 at 11:00 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Dana Stevens conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the purpose of a room addition, Licensee has legally converted her garage to a living space and wishes to add it to her daycare area. Facility and converted garage were inspected by National City Fire Department on 09/14/2021 and Fire clearance was granted for capacity of 14 children. LPA met with Licensee, Bertha Salcedo, and was granted entry into the facility. Eight daycare children, ages (1, 2, 21/2, 3,4,4,4,4) and one child care assistant were also present in the facility at the time of the inspection. Licensee accompanied LPA on a tour of the inside and outside of the facility. Licensee will be using the following areas for childcare: Daycare room, daycare bathroom and fully fenced backyard. Off limit areas are: Living room, dining room, kitchen, studio and entire upstairs. These areas are made inaccessible with the use of door knob covers, door locks and a safety gate. The upstairs is not used and is gated off at the bottom of the stairway and the applicant understands the gate must be in place when children under five years are present during day care hours. The provider physically checks on sleeping infants every 15 minutes. The fireplace is screened. The fire extinguisher is rated 3A 40B:C and is located in the daycare room, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors meet requirements and are operational. All poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines are inaccessible to children in care and are located in off limit areas.\302\240 Children\342\200\231s toys and play equipment are available. The applicant has a working telephone/cell phone.\302\240 Licensee states there are no firearms or weapons in the home Backyard is fully fenced and free of hazards. Hours of Operation will be Monday- Friday 6:30 AM-5:30 PM. Converted garage/daycare room is approved for child care use effective this date. No deficiencies cited. Exit interview was conducted and licensee was provided with a copy of this report and Notice of Site visit. Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 days.
