What the inspector wrote

On May 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Edgar Campana conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the Licensee, Gloria Aldrete.\302\240 LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee.\302\240 Twelve (12) children were present in the facility during this inspection, as well as two assistants.\302\240 This facility is a two story, three bedroom, 2 and half bathroom house. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: living room, dining room, kitchen, daycare room (den), daycare bathroom, and back yard.\302\240Off limits areas are: garage and entire upstairs (3 bedrooms, 2 bath) and are inaccessible through use of door knob covers and a safety gate. The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements.\302\240 All hazardous items were inaccessible to children. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available.\302\240 The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities.\302\240 No bodies of water observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. Licensee\342\200\231s First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 09/2022.\302\240 Licensee has required immunizations.\302\240 Licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training in 10/31/2021.\302\240 Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed.\302\240 The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 04/22/2022. LPA provided and discussed the following:\302\240 Report suspected child abuse and neglect, maintain children\342\200\231s records according to regulation, post all required forms, and ensure that all adults residing or working in the home have criminal background clearances or exemptions.\302\240 Licensee was reminded that corporal punishment, smoking, exersaucers, bouncy seats, walkers, and jumpers and/or similar equipment are not allowed in daycare. Licensee was also provided handouts with information regarding upcoming Safe Sleep Regulations/SIDS, Lead exposure and Shaken Baby Syndrome.\302\240 LPA and Licensee discussed California Megan's Law and LPA provided: www.meganslaw.ca.gov . LPA discussed and provided Licensee with the following: child care advocates email address: childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov . In addition, for general questions or questions regarding licensing requirements contact the Child Care Licensing Duty Line at (619) 767-2248. Incidental Medical services (IMS) policy was discussed.\302\240 For IMS information see Evaluator Manual \342\200\223 Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417.\302\240 When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department.\302\240 The following information regarding ADA was provided:\302\240 US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication:\302\240 Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm . Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. No deficiencies cited. A Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Exit interview conducted in Spanish, report was reviewed, and a copy was provided to licensee, Gloria Aldrete.
