What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Tyra Block, conducted an unannounced Annual inspection with the Licensee. Purpose of the visit is to ensure that the home is in compliance with standards established in CCR, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3 . The two- story home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. Present were the Licensee and her own infant child, no day care children were present. The fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide/ smoke detector meet requirements and are operational. Last fire drill was conducted on 2/15/21. All hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. There are no bodies of water on the property. Licensee states that there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee\342\200\231s and Helper's First Aid and CPR certifications expire on July 2022. Licensee and helper meet immunization requirements.Mandated Reporter Training was not taken as Licensee's primary language is Arabic/ Chaldean. Licensee stated Helper/ spouse is proficient in English and will submit proof of online training. Children's facility roster was reviewed and found to be incomplete. Licensee has provided adequate space for the children to eat, sleep and play within the home. Areas used for child care include living room, downstairs bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and patio. Off limits areas include entire upstairs and is inaccessible through use of child safety gate to barricade the staircase. Licensee has an electric fireplace that was unplugged. Licensee's and helper's cellphones are available for use during operating hours. The patio is fenced and available for outdoor activities. Provider is hereby reminded of the following: Report suspected child abuse and neglect, maintain children\342\200\231s records according to regulation, post all required forms, ensure that all adults living or working in the home have criminal background clearances to avoid civil penalties associated with this requirement; corporal punishment, smoking, exersaucers, bouncy seats, walkers, and jumpers are not allowed in day care. All equipment that is used should be used only as intended by the manufacturer. Safe Sleep, Effects of Lead, COVID Child Care Guidance, and California Megan's Law were discussed.LPA provided: www.meganslaw.ca.gov . Website was provided for online Mandated Reporter training for helper/ husband to complete training: www.mandatedreporterca.com . Incidental Medical Services were discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual \342\200\223 Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. See 809-D for deficiency cited. The licensee was provided a copy of their appeal rights (LIC 9058 12/15) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights. LPA provided notice of site visit and observed it being posted at the facility.
