On 04/04/22 , at 2:46 p.m. , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Rajani Goudreau conducted an unannounced Annual Inspection and met with the Licensee, Maria Castellano . LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Four children, licensees\342\200\231 mother and helper were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a one story , four- bedroom, two- bathroom house . The following areas are used for childcare: kitchen, living room, back yard and restroom located in the hallway of the home . The following off-limit areas are made securely inaccessible: four bedrooms, master bathroom and front yard. Facility operates Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements, per LPA observation. LPA observed hazardous items inaccessible to children in care. LPA informed licensee poisons shall be placed in a storage area and locked. LPA observed toys, play equipment and materials available for the children\342\200\231s use. The fireplace located in the living room is screened. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. LPA informed licensee the children shall be supervised during outdoor activities. There is a pool and a hot tub located in the back yard. The pool and hot tub are fenced with a 5 feet high fence with openings on fence no wider than four inches, and in no way obstruct a complete and clear view of the pool from the outside. In addition, the pool fence has two gates that are self-closing, self-latching and swing away from the pool, per LPA observation. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee\342\200\231s First Aid and CPR certifications are valid. Licensee has required immunization's, per file review. Licensee has completed the Mandated Reporter Training. See LIC809-C continuation page. LPA informed the licensee the Mandated Reporter training shall be completed once every two years. The facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented in 01/2022. There is one play yard for each infant who is unable to climb out of the crib or play yard. Cribs or play yards are free from all loose articles and objects. The provider physically checks on sleeping infants every 15 minutes. Incidental Medical services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.LPA discussed California Megan's Law and LPA provided: www.meganslaw.ca.gov . LPA discussed and provided Licensee with the following: child care advocates email address: childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov . LPA informed licensee in order to sign up for Quarterly Updates and PINs through our website.
