What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jennifer Lott conducted an unannounced annual licensing inspection. LPA was greeted at the front of the facility by Licensee, Piper Rhodes and granted entry after identifying herself and disclosing the purpose of her visit. Appropriate ratios and capacity were observed. Age appropriate furniture and equipment are in good condition. Rooms have adequate heating, lighting, ventilation. Floors appear to be clean and safe. Drinking water is readily accessible. Bathrooms are maintained with operational toilets and cold water faucets. Paper towels and toilet paper are available. Food service area consists of a kitchen which is clean and free of hazards, posted menus and adequate food available for meals. Cleaning supplies are kept separate from food and are inaccessible to children. Storage containers for solid waste have tight-fitting covers and are kept in good repair. Storage areas for poisons are locked. Licensee, Rhodes states there are no firearms or other weapons on the premises. All foods/beverages capable of rapid spoiling are stored in covered containers. The facility appears to be free of insects and rodents. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector in each classroom. Outdoor play area is a fenced playground with sufficient material for cushioning. There are no pools or bodies of water at this facility. Climbing structures, swings and slides are securely fixed to the ground and there is sufficient shade available. Area has drinking water readily accessible and grounds are free of debris or potential hazards. LPA reviewed medication storage. Personnel records contain health screening documentation and at least one staff member has current CPR and First Aid certifications. All staff have completed mandated reporter training and required immunization. Each personnel record contains documentation of educational background and training. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee Rhodes was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Sign ins were reviewed. Children\342\200\231s records contain admission agreements and medical assessment. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee, Rhodes and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee Rhodes of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records.
