What the inspector wrote

On 9/3/21 at 10:30 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, met with Director, Leslie Scheck, for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were 69 children present with 16 teachers as follows: Room 2(Toddler Option): 4 children with a teacher and an Aide, Room 3 (2's): 6 children with a teacher and an Aide; Room 4 (older 2s): 7 children with a teacher and an Aide; Room #5 is not in use; Room #6 (3s): 11 children with a teacher and an Aide; Room #7 (3s): 11 children with a teacher and an Aide; Room #8 (Pre-K): 9 children with two teachers, Room #9 (Pre-K): 11 children with a teacher and an Aide and Room #10/11 (Kinder) with a teacher and an Aide. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. LPA toured the facility. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. Children bring their own lunches and snacks are provided by the facility. There is a kitchen which is clean and sanitary with all food stored and served properly, per regulation. Menus are posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Medications are kept in the emergency backpacks in each classroom, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade.Playground equipment and outdoor surfaces are in a safe condition No hazards were noted. Portable water is used outdoors. There are no bodies of water, firearms or ammunition on the property. The carbon monoxide detector is operational in each room. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and on-the-job training. A sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. Children are evaluated upon entry and monitored throughout the day for signs of illness. Covid 19 procedures and precautions are in place. All children and staff were wearing masks indoors, posting and PPE were in place and social distancing was being reinforced as much as possible. The isolation are for ill children awaiting pick up is in the main office. There are several staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com . This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records.
