What the inspector wrote

On 08/23/2021 at 11:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Samantha Clenista, conducted an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection and to address facility's request of adding rooms 20 & 21. Fire clearance was granted on 08/23/2021. LPA met with April Smith, Site Coordinator. There were no children in care during time of visit. LPA inspected the currently licensed room and additional rooms. Per Health and Safety Code Sections 1596.806(a), (a)(1), (1)(2) and (d) this program is exempt from square footage, fencing, outdoor activity space, toilet and isolation requirements. Outdoor play areas include field and playground adjacent to the bungalow restrooms. Ms. Smith stated that rooms 10, 11, 12, 16, 19 and 31 are not going to be utilized this school year of 2021-2022. Prior to using either of the rooms, Ms. Smith is aware to let Child Care Licensing know. Rooms 20 and 21 are equipped with tables and chairs and age appropriate equipment, however supplies are still in boxes and the rooms are not set up. Ms. Smith stated that Room 20 will be set up by the end of the day and will send LPA pictures of Room 20 once everything is set up. Ms. Smith stated that the school starts tomorrow, 08/24/2021. There is a sink available in each room. Drinking water is readily accessible via water bottles and refillable water jugs. Snacks will be provided and will be prepared in the classroom. The program will use the bathrooms (girls and boys) located across room 22 that afford privacy. Bathrooms and classroom sinks have hot and cold running water. Classrooms have storage space for food. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector in Room 20. Sign-in area is located in front of the Kinder gate. All COVID-19 posters are posted. Ms. Smith was reminded to keep anything that reads, \342\200\234Keep Out of Reach of Children\342\200\235 to be inaccessible to children. Ms. Smith is reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. Medications, when present, are stored in a locked cabinet, inaccessible to children. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. SB 792 (staff immunization's) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com . This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. No services are in place today. Ms. Smith states she understands that all staff must have a criminal record clearance and be associated to the facility prior to having a presence in the Center. Child Care Providers can now sign up for Quarterly Updates and PINS through the DSS website. Please go to www.ccld.ca.gov and click on \342\200\234Receive Important Updates,\342\200\235 then enter your email address and choose which program you would like to subscribe to and click subscribe. LPA also shared the following resources to Ms. Smith via email: Playground Safety Handbook, Risk in Play article, YMCA Childcare Resource Service, Helping Young Children Cope with Disaster, Active Supervision Handout, and COVID-19 Early Care and Education handout. No deficiencies cited at this time. Room 20 and 21 were observed to have age appropriate furniture and equipment, however were not set up yet during inspection. Ms. S mith stated she will have Room 20 set up by 5pm today and will send LPA pictures. Ms. Smith stated that Room 21 will be set up on a later date and that she will send pictures to LPA prior to having the children utilize it. Ms. Smith stated at this time, Room 21 will not be utilized until it is fully set up, however would like it to be licensed so that they are able to use it once it is set up. An updated license for 90 school age children (ages TK-12 years old) in Rooms 10, 11, 12, 16, 19, 20, 21 and 31 is effective today's date (08/23/2021) and will be mailed to facility tomorrow. NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED DURING THIS VISIT AND SHALL REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
