Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 08/12/2020 at 9:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Clenista conducted an unannounced case management site inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Jennifer Rodriguez, Area Manager. The purpose of this visit is to address facility's request to change rooms. The program is currently licensed to care for children in Rooms 703, 704, 705, 706, 708 and 709. Facility has requested to operate in the following rooms: 803, 804, 805, 806 and auditorium. Fire clearance was granted for only rooms 804 and 805 a s the other rooms are undergoing construction. Fire clearance for room 804 and 805 was granted on 08/11/20222. There were no children present during inspection as school does not start until 08/24/2022. Room 804 and 805 were inspected during this visit. There is one sink and one drinking faucet in each classroom. There is a carbon monoxide detector located in Room 804. Drinking water is readily accessible via drinking fountains and refillable water jugs inside and outside the classrooms. Age-appropriate supplies and furniture were observed available in the indoor activity space, however rooms were not fully set up as school does not start until 08/24/22, and some renovations (paint and organization of furniture and toys) needs to be done prior to having any children in the new rooms. There are several bathrooms on campus for the children which include toilets and sinks and afford privacy. There is a separate staff restroom. Children will be escorted to/from the bathrooms at all times. The playground to be used is the elementary school playground/grassy field area, which has age-appropriate play equipment and plenty of space and fencing (during school hours). The classrooms and outdoor play area were not measured as the program is exempt from square footage requirements as long as they are certified by the principal for use as classrooms during the day. Food preparation for snacks will be done in the classrooms. See 809-C for continuation... Isolation for ill children is located in the nurses office or if not available, a small area within the classroom away from the other children. Cleaning supplies and other toxins are inaccessible to children through latches, locks and/or placed on high surfaces. Ms. Rodriguez is reminded to keep anything that reads, \342\200\234Keep Out of Reach of Children\342\200\235 inaccessible to children.
