What the inspector wrote

On 05/30/2024 at 1:35pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted a case management capacity increase inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Rachel Tamayo, Director of Afterschool Programs and Jennifer Rodriguez, Area Manager. Facility is currently licensed to care for 120 children ages TK through 12 years old in classrooms 706, 707 and multipurpose/auditorium. Facility has request to increase the license capacity to 250 by adding 13 classrooms to their license which includes 401, 403, 405, 501, 503, 504, 601,602, 604, 605, 801, 802 and 803. Facility is exempt from indoor and outdoor square footage per Title 22, sections 101538.2(c) and 101538.3(c). No measuring of any sort was conducted today. There were 46 children with 5 staff members during today's inspection and all staff members have the required background clearances and are associated to the facility. Food preparation for snacks is in classroom #707 and during the summer it will be at a different classroom. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector located each building and it's currently in rooms 403, 503, 601 and 802 (STEM Room) and in room #707. Cleaning supplies and other toxics are inaccessible to children through latches, locks and/or placed on high surfaces. Check in area is currently at the gate by room #707 and during the summer it will be by the Kindergarten playground near the front of the campus. The children uses elementary school green play structure, which appears to be age-appropriate equipment for school age children. Facility representatives stated that the younger children will be playing at the kindergarten playground area as well. Both playgrounds has rubber cushioning, and the play structure has an attached tarp shade. There is shade available and water bottle filling station and drinking fountains throughout the school and some of the classrooms. Facility representative was reminded to keep anything that reads, \342\200\234Keep Out of Reach of Children\342\200\235 inaccessible to children. Children will be eating at the lunch table areas. Restrooms designated for children were observed to be separate and allowed for individual privacy. All the classrooms in the 600 building has a restroom with a sink and toilet available for the children. Facility representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. The capacity increase will be granted upon received of fire clearance from the fire department. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with facility representative. A notice of site visit must remain posted for 30 days by the sign in and out area.
