What the inspector wrote

On 08/12/2024 at 10:03am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted a case management capacity increase inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Rachel Tamayo, Director of After-school Programs and April Smith, Area Manager. Facility is currently licensed to care for 110 children ages 5 through 12 years old in classrooms 29, 30 and 31. Facility has request to increase the license capacity to 140 children that are attending UTK through 5th grade by using classrooms 29, 30, 31, 33 and the multipurpose room aka media center. Facility is exempt from indoor and outdoor square footage per Title 22, sections 101538.2(c) and 101538.3(c). The fire clearance was approved on 08/02/2024. The school is currently on summer break and will resume on 08/21/2024. Food preparation for snacks is in the main classroom #31. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector in room #31 placed up on the wall next to the sink area. Cleaning supplies and other toxins are inaccessible to children through latches, locks and/or placed on high surfaces. Check in is in the Kindergarten gate area for the Kindergarten and the check in area for the older kids are outside of room #31. The PM check out area is in room #31 or at the big playground. The children uses the elementary black top basketball area, big playground structure, which appears to be age-appropriate for school age children ages 5 to 12 years old and the swings are age appropriate for children ages 2 to 12 years old. Facility representatives stated that the younger children will be playing at the kindergarten playground area and the swings are age appropriate for children ages 2 to 12 years old. Both playgrounds has soft rubber cushioning, and there are shade available with large canopy shade, umbrella, building or trees as shade. The children will use their water bottle to fill up water from the Sparkletts water dispenser that is in room #31 or the filtered water station at the playground. Facility representatives was reminded to keep anything that reads, \342\200\234Keep Out of Reach of Children\342\200\235 inaccessible to children. Older children will be eating at the tables directly outside of room #31 and the Kindergarten children will either eat at the tables outside of room #31 or inside room #31 depending on the weather. The children will be using the two boys and two girls restroom throughout the campus (see facility's map). Facility representatives was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. Facility representatives was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.\342\200\235 The capacity increase is granted effective today for 140 children. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with facility representatives. A notice of site visit must remain posted for 30 days by the sign in and out area.
